The tuning frequency (Hz) of a handpan determines its overall pitch and resonance characteristics. Understanding the differences between 440Hz and 432Hz can help you decide which tuning best suits your needs.

440Hz - The Modern Standard Tuning

• Sound Characteristics: Bright, clear, and crisp tones with strong projection, making it ideal for playing with other standard-tuned instruments like pianos and guitars.

• Best for: Musical performances, ensemble playing, stage performances, and studio recordings.

• Recommended for: Those who want a more versatile handpan, plan to play with other instruments, or prefer a sharper, more defined sound.

432Hz - The Natural Resonance Tuning

• Sound Characteristics: Warm, soft, and deep tones with rich resonance, often believed to be more in harmony with natural frequencies, creating a soothing and meditative effect.

• Best for: Meditation, yoga, sound healing, mindfulness practices, and solo improvisation.

• Recommended for: Those looking for a deeply relaxing and therapeutic experience or who prefer a softer, more immersive resonance.
